Restaurant Gaijin is Tomi Björck and Matti Wikberg’s second restaurant. Gaijin takes you on a journey to North Asia. Located in an excellent spot on the corner of Bulevardi and Yrjönkatu, the restaurant opened its doors in April of 2011. Gaijin offers unique flavors by combining traditional Japanese and Korean dishes with dishes from the North of China, in a modern way. The restaurant’s facilities are suitable for various kinds of events and gatherings. The dining room has a warm intimate atmosphere suitable for a private dining experience, whilst the bar is a relaxed lounge area with long communal tables and a sunny terrace which offers something for everyone. Irasshaimase! That means welcome in Japanese.

Food

At Gaijin eating is all about socializing and most of the dishes have been designed to be shared. Gaijin’s chef has designed two set menus and by choosing one for your entire table, you can jump on board the train of flavors. Let our experienced staff lead the way. We have also designed drink packages which complement the flavors throughout the menu. All dishes can be enjoyed at the same time with other dishes and we encourage you to mix different flavors. Food and drink is an integral part of the Gaijin family and we’re happy to share it with you.

Gaijin’s drink list has taken its time to develop, a bit like some of the finest wines on the list. It is a sign of a passionate approach to wines, other high quality drinks and gastronomy. It has been affected by trips abroad, intuition, tips from friends, professional partners and above all, our own senses. Tasting is where it all begins and where it also ends. Tasting drinks has given us an opportunity to recognize quality and compile our own list, with one amazing drink after another at a good price-quality ratio.

Reservations

Gaijin can also be used for various kinds of events. In order to ensure the comfort and flow of the event, we ask groups of more than 12 people to select a uniform menu in advance. Our sales staff will send you the menu options via an electronic format after receiving the reservation request. We do take special diets into consideration and a vegan menu is available if requested in advance.

Please note that Gaijin has a few different reservation times:
From 5 pm to 7.30 pm, 5.30 pm to 8 pm, 6 pm to 8.30 pm and from 8 pm onwards. Kitchen takes last orders in at 10 pm

Please note that your email reservation is not confirmed until the restaurant has confirmed it via a return email or by phone.

Please notice that the billing is possible only for companies and organizations. We confirm the possibility for billing when confirming the reservation. Invoicing fee 12,40 e will be added to the final invoice.



Our charity work

WORLD VISION

Farang and World Vision have together organized a Farang for Sri Lanka benefit dinner for the past several years now. The proceeds from the event go towards combating childhood malnutrition in Sri Lanka. With the money raised malnourished children will be provided with health care services and their families will be educated about healthy nutrition.

The dinner guests get to enjoy a unique menu inspired by Southeast Asia as well as live entertainment. Performers that have entertained our guests on the night include Uniikki, Jontte Valosaari, Timo Pieni Huijaus, Elastinen, Saara Aalto, Teemu Roivainen, Sami Hedberg, SÄX and Mia Hafrén.

 

RED CROSS

Red Nose Day

The annual Red Nose Day campaign organized by the Nose Day Foundation raises funds to support children in developing countries. The campaign’s vision is for everyone in Finland to take some sort of action to help children in developing countries achieve a life of dignity. People across the country come together to move towards this goal by having fun and raising funds.

BW-Restaurants supports the campaign by selling a special cocktail at its restaurants on Red Nose Day. The cocktail is, of course, decorated with a bright red nose!

Good Holiday Spirit

The Good Holiday Spirit campaign supports low-income families in Finland. The donations are used to give €70 gift vouchers to families living on a low income or otherwise facing difficult situations in life. With the vouchers they can buy food around Christmas time. The campaign begins at the end of November and continues until Christmas Eve.

At 2015 BW-Restaurants donated one euro to the campaign for each cookbook sold between the 1st and 22nd of December.

 

MOVEMBER

The Movember Foundation’s aim is to raise awareness of men’s health globally. Every November men all over the world grow a moustache to support the campaign. Our BW-Restaurants bartenders also grow a moustache in November and create amazing Movember drinks with part of the proceeds going to the Movember Foundation.
